Slavic Composers 1900-1950

The Institute of Musicology of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (Poland) is pleased to invite you to participate in the musicological conference Slavic Composers 1900-1950, which will
be held on May 25-26, 2015 in Lublin. Since the topic of the conference is quite extensive, we suggest some more specific issues:

- particular musical works (analytical approach)
- biographies of the unknown composers (esp. unknown for the Polish audience)
- folklore and national elements
- romantic tradition or avant-garde
- impressionism, expressionism and neoclassicism
in the works of Slavic composers
- musical genres, forms and techniques of the first half of the 20th century
- sacred music
- popular music
- social and political background
- emigration
- reception of particular works
- links between music, art and literature

Papers should be planned to last up to 20 minutes, followed by ten minutes for questions and discussion. The working languages of the
conference will be English and Polish.

Proposals should be submitted no later than April 24, 2015 in the form of an abstract of ca. 250 words, accompanied by a short professional
résumé, concerning institutional affiliation as well as contact details. We welcome applications from both established scholars and postgraduate students. Online participation would be possible in some specific cases, please contact us for further details.

Conference fee: 100 PLN (25 EUR), accommodation is not included.
Papers will be published in a peer-reviewed publication.
